Travelling up from London, Naomi & Claire along with teenege sons Charlie & James had taken on the challenge of our highest and grandest peak "Yr Wyddfa" would all their expectations be met? That would a big fat yes then, clear skies & a gentle breeze were the order of the day and the path selected "Rhyd Ddu" was quiet compared to the main tourist paths.
It is easy for us to forget that all routes to the summit can be challenging if you are not used to walking the mountains and, this route of course has to traverse (twice) Bwlch Main just below the summit.
While the path is good the big drops on either side can mess with peoples heads but taking it steady we had no problems getting over the ridge to then reach the summit for photos and of course a feast in Hafod Eryri!
The walk down seemed to take longer than the ascent but there was no rush, the views were fantastic so plenty of photo stops before getting down to our cars and then it was all over, the end of a fantastic day out. I bet they all slept well that night!
