Well they did rebook and we managed to get out on Saturday along with a big dump of snow and sleet who also came out to play. That meant we only managed to get the group of Students from St Georges University, London just over half way.
Was still a great day out though and they enjoyed it!

Well that was a wasted weekend for me, Saturday's walk was cancelled at the last minute with a half promise that it would take place this coming Saturday, I woont hold my breath!
Thats more or less the end of the walking season here so that means I will be roaming the hills and mountains looking for new and interesting routes for next year and of course catching up on all the things that I needed to do at home.
I have had a few bookings for next year already so shall be puting up ...Read Full Post »

Well that was a bit of a surprise for our Saturday walk up Snowdon, a good covering of snow from 800mtrs! it did make for an exciting day out though for my group from HF Craflwyn, and very enjoyable it was too.
Sunday it was again a group from HF Craflwyn but this time we were out on a greasy rock Nantlle Ridge walk, now that did make for an interesting scramble across the rocks, but although very cold with a biting wind the sun was out from 11am so another great...Read Full Post »

Lots been happening over the past couple of weeks so here is a brief catch up, hopefully as it gets quieter I will have more regular updates.
The end of September saw me attendnig two days with Mike Raine which included spedning a day with the Snowdonia Sherperdess Teleri Fielden. Paul one of my old mates and work collegue from back in the day had a Snowdon Summit climb on his to do list and we made plans some time ago to go up on September 23rd, he promised me he had been training - He lied! nine holes of golf does not count!
Taking the Rhyd Ddu path we started off and there was a bit of puffing and sucking in air whilst we were still on the road, I realised then we were in for an extended day on the hill :).
Weather was cloudy to s...Read Full Post »

Great week down in Dolgellau exploring the hills and mountains, bonus of course was the good weather. Managed to get onto the high Rhinogydd and the Dragons Back as well as a nice coastal walk finishing in Fairbourne, very mixed programme and a nice change from Snowdon.
Back on a very hot Snowdon last Saturday working for Large outdoord with just the one young lady guest who romped up the mountain (Watkin Path) with ease, as expected the summit was PACKED!

Thanks to Nicola for organising the ladies day out on Snowdon. Staying overnight in Beddgelert the Ladies were excited and keen when they arrived at a misty Rhyd Ddu start, it promised to be an interesting day on the hill !
Gradually with pleny of stops and chats we made our way up into the clouds which was hiding the summit from us. A couple of cloud breaks made sure the ladies knew they were high up and heading to the ridge, none of whom had been over before!

Well it may only be a short time to the festive period but I am still very busy getting through the heavy workload in September!
This week has been busy with Snowdon walks, Warden Duty and a Geology day with Paul Ganon
Myself and fellow Warden Linda (sister) had a good soaking yesterday whilst on patrol on the Miners and Pyg Track, still managed to clear a couple of culverts and pick up yet more litter though.
Today was a rearanged trip with Sue from Cornwa...Read Full Post »

With a forecasted temp of feeling like minus-3 tomorrow on the summit of Snowdon Autumn has managed to sneak upon us, it was baltic on Monday with everybody donning hats & gloves etc, but then again we see that quite often during the summer months.
I am working for Glyn Peris B&B a couple of times this week and then Saturday its a full day out providing Mountain Leader cover for the Rat Race (Man v Mountain) a huge event taking place on and around Snowdon.Read Full Post »

For a change the weather was great for the last Bank Holiday of the year and Gwyn, Gary, Matthew & Jonathon made the most of it with a fantastic day out on Snowdon.
Taking an unusually very busy Rhyd Ddu Path to a very clear and sunny summit we could see the heavy low clouds drifting their way towards us from the coast, that spurned us on to get to the top in just over two hours.
The summit was quite busy so we headed round to the front to have great views over Lly...Read Full Post »

Yes, it looks like we will have great weather for the holiday weekend, as I have a day off on Saturday its especially good!
Sunday sees me back on Snowdon and I am looking forward to having some sushine as we head up one of my favourite routes "Rhyd Ddu and the South Ridge. Whilst these two paths are relatively quiet the summit no doubt will be a tad busy!
As we head quickly towards the end of the season September and October are busy for me, there are stil...Read Full Post »

Choosing her first mountain climb it just had to be the highest in Wales & England "Snowdon" Coming from Hertfordshire there was not much realistic training she could do so she just had to go for it choosing the hardest route up the mountain "The Watkin Path & South Ridge"
We had a weather window of about six hours to make the climb with a clearish summit promised about one o'clock and rain to follow at 4. We made great progress with lots of information being p...Read Full Post »

After lots of cancellations due to poor weather etc there was definately a break in the weather forecast today to enable Richard to finally get to the summit of Snowdon.
Richard is the manager at HF Holidays Craflwyn Hall in Beddgelert and about 4 times a week sees off guests as they embark on their own Snowdon adventures so it was nice for him to see for himself, first hand what our magnificent mountain has to offer.
Rich was no slow coach and we reached the summit in...Read Full Post »

The weather is very changeable at the moment but still remains very warm and humid, so if you are venturing out please take plenty to drink (not beer or gin!).
Saturday I was out providing Mountain Leader cover for the Snowdonia Society on an organised footpath maintenance day with the National Trust Rangers and volunteers on Y Garn, they still gave me a spade!
It was a very interesting day and we managed to complete several very labour intensive tasks quite high up th...Read Full Post »

Here we go again, rain wind, cloud, you name we have had it again on the mountain.
Working for Large Outdoors on Saturday supporting a group from different parts of the country with their Snowdon Adventure, apart from the rubbish weather and not being able to see anything at the summit, we had a great day out.
THIS IS THE FINAL CALL FOR THE OPEN GROUP WALK ON MONDAY AUGUST 19TH, ...Read Full Post »
